If Alter table in MSSQL is disabled....

If you unable to alter a table without dropping and re-creating it. Most likely the
"Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation" is turned on.

Turn it off by select
Tools > Options > Designers > deselect "Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation"
